The vintage electric 1953 Epiphone Zephyr Emperor built to combat and surpass the Gibson Super 400 in their ongoing guitar war of the time is as near mint as I can call her due to the numbering in the selector buttons being worn nearly off, other than that she is one pristine example of what the ultimate vintage jazz box guitar is supposed to represent(just look at the pictures and you will agree). A whopping 18 and 1/2 inches wide with rounded cutaway, beautifully flamed spruce top and flame dappled maple back and sides with a beautiful sunburst finish where age checking is observed.. The Zephor has 7 ply binding on the body and 3 ply bound F holes a single bound rosewood fingerboard with 2 white inlaid lines running the entire length of the fretboard on the treble "E" and bass "E" sides. Pearl block inlays with an abalone inlaid "V" a triple bound peghead with "Vine " inlay. It is complete with the 3 original "New York pickups with their original "bakelite" pickup mounts and bakelite "carousel knobs". The Frequensator tailpiece is original and unbroken as with most of this era and she sports the original pickguard that is slightly warping with age but is complete and unbroken or cracked. To complete this package the original case is included. Most offered are natural in color this is a Sunburst model. |
